How do I make changes to my benefits?
We'll be glad to assist you with changes you may need. If you would
like to make changes to your benefits, please contact our office.
Benefit
decreases or cancellations can be done at any time. Benefits that
were purchased as part of a group plan can only be increased at
times of re-enrollment (usually once each year) and may require
proof of insurability.
How
can my disability benefits be tax-free?
Since you pay for this coverage with after-tax dollars, current
tax laws provide that benefits paid under these voluntary benefit
programs are completely tax-free and do not have to be claimed as
income at the end of the year.
What
payment options do you offer?
Many employers will allow payroll deductions for payment of premiums.
However, if that option is not available, we now offer the availability
of electronic funds transfer from a bank account or credit union.
This new option opens dynamic possibilities for many clients. Call
us today at 1-800-982-9280 to discuss how this service can benefit
your organization.
Will
I still be able to collect my sickness-and-accident benefit from
my company if I file a claim for my voluntary disability benefit?
Yes, you can collect this supplemental benefit in addition to any other benefit you may receive.
Why
should I purchase both short- and long-term disability coverage?
I'll never be out of work that long!
Both portions of the disability program we offer are designed to
work together to protect your income during both the short and long-term
stages of a disability.
If
you enroll in only the short-term protection, you will have sufficient
income for the first six months of a disability. But what if you
are still suffering from the disability after six months? Without
long-term coverage, your income will stop! What if you're forced
to be out for eight months? One year? Two years? You will still
need income to support yourself and your family. Of course, you
may not be out longer than six months…but do you want to take that
chance?
